Health Advice for Those Who Thrive in Quiet Moments

23rd Sep 2025

I have often felt that most health advice does not speak to people like me. There is an assumption that you will thrive in big groups, that you find motivation in loud gyms or that self-care means booking endless social activities. But what about those people who gain energy and clarity from quieter, reflective moments. How does health advice look for them?

Research shows that people who naturally enjoy solitude may process stress differently. While others might feel more comfortable jumping into challenges or seeking support those who prefer quiet reflection may experience stress internally which can take its toll if not addressed timely. The key here is learning to use your natural tendencies to support your health rather than letting them become a source of tension.

For me, self-care is about creating balance in a way that feels natural. Quiet walks, journaling, mindful meals and gentle breathing are all ways I manage stress and protect my energy. At the end of a socially active day, practising silence (mauna) helps me recharge myself.

If you have ever felt guilty about not fitting into the typical idea of healthy living, I want you to know that your way is valid. There is no single blueprint for health. Some of us thrive in stillness and that is more than enough.

Here are a few simple ways to make the most of quiet, restorative moments in daily life:

  • Take a solo walk- notice your surroundings, breathe deeply and let your mind wander.
  • Create a journaling habit- write down thoughts, worries or even gratitude lists to clear mental space.
  • Practice mindful eating-enjoy meals slowly without distractions turning food into a grounding ritual.
  • Protect your energy-say no when you need to and do not feel guilty for choosing rest.
  • Build quiet rituals-light a candle, sip tea or read before bed. Small, soothing habits add up.
  • By tuning into your natural rhythm, you can use reflective, quiet practices to maintain balance, reduce stress and support your health over time.

What quiet routines or small rituals help you feel grounded and resilient? I would love to hear about them.
